HOW DOES VITAMIN C HELP YOUR SKIN?
Vitamin C is an antioxidant, meaning it oxidizes (neutralizes) free radicals in the skin. Free radicals, which are formed from things like the sun, pollution, stress and smoking, damage the DNA of the cell, which can lead to premature aging and skin cancer. Vitamin C also boosts collagen production and reverses cell damage, which helps keep the skin firmer and younger, and even helps fade and prevent brown spots and pigmentation.
- Vitamin C helps improve: fine lines, dullness, and uneven tone.
- Vitamin C protects against: free radical damage and environmental pollution.
- Vitamin C enhances: your skin’s radiance and the efficacy of your sunscreen.
INCLUDING VITAMIN C IN YOUR SKIN CARE REGIMEN
Vitamin C is a big part of our Core Four Anti-Aging strategy in the antioxidant category. When added to your daily routine, well-formulated vitamin C products provide a range of benefits: Protecting your skin from harmful free radical damage, brightening your complexion, shielding your skin from environmental stressors, and helping keep fine lines and wrinkles at bay.
In skincare, packaging and pH level are key elements for Vitamin C products. The container should be dark and/or opaque, because Vitamin C becomes unstable after it has been exposed to light.
Our founder Dr. Leslie Gray has personally selected all of the antioxidant products in our Advanced SkinCare Store based on their high-quality formulations and effective concentrations. Therefore, focus on finding the consistency that feels good to your skin and doesn’t cause irritation, whether it is a water-soluble serum like Skinceuticals CE Ferulic or a fat-soluble lotion like Revision C+ Correcting Complex.
And, regardless of which Vitamin C you use, you always want to apply it in the morning immediately after cleansing. (We have some Vitamin C products that can be used at night as well, but daytime is a must.)
